MYTHS ON WATER
WATER IS THE SOURCE OF LIFE, THE BEGINNING AND THE INDISPENSABLE… EVER SINCE THE ANCIENT DAYS HUMANS LEARNED TO LIVE TOGETHER AND PRODUCE, WATER HAS BEEN THE PRIMARY ELIXIR OF LIFE, ON WHICH BOTH MYTHS AND RELIGIONS LAID PARTICULAR EMPHASIS.

MYTHS ON WATER

Water nymphs, sirens who diverted sailors from their way with their lovely voices, mermaids, and Narcissos, who faded away in his self-admiration at his reflection on water and was turned into a daffodil… River Styx, on which the dead are carried away to their eternal rest… The Biblical Flood, which was recited by every ancient tale, from Gilgamesh to religious scripts… These are the very first myths that come to mind about water, which is powerful to give life and take it back. Draught is among the major consequences of climate changes, one of the leading problems of the modern world. One day, water resources might come to an end. World wars might break out for the sake of water. This, unfortunately, is no distopia, but an official scientific claim. So let us keep in mind that our lives are dependent on this elixir of life as we read these ancient stories, at times making us smile, at times making us sad, but underlining the importance of water at all times.
